Shared XP Code of Conduct

Shared XP exists so people can come together, run bridge simulator sessions, and build a shared world they enjoy being part of. That only works if everyone involved — players, game masters, staff, and visitors — feels welcome, safe, and respected.

This Code of Conduct applies across all Shared XP spaces: our Discord server, our website and personnel system, online sessions, and any in-person events we run.

Our expectations

We expect everyone in the community to:

  • Treat others with respect, regardless of background, identity, experience level, or role within the community
  • Communicate in good faith, assuming the best of others and resolving disagreements constructively
  • Respect boundaries, including when someone asks you to stop a behaviour or end a conversation
  • Follow the instructions of game masters and staff during sessions and events, who are responsible for keeping things running smoothly and safely
  • Respect others' time and effort, including the work that goes into running sessions, building lore, and maintaining our systems
  • Come prepared to contribute positively to the session, including being in a place with a stable connection and being in a position to actively take part, rather than joining in a state where you can't properly engage

Unacceptable behaviour

The following will not be tolerated in any Shared XP space:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind, including based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or nationality
  • Sexual harassment, unwelcome sexual attention, or sexually explicit content
  • Hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans any group of people
  • Deliberate disruption of sessions, events, or community spaces
  • Doxxing, sharing others' personal information without consent, or threats of any kind
  • Abuse of game-master, admin, or moderator privileges
  • Persistent unwanted contact after being asked to stop

This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. Behaviour that undermines the safety or wellbeing of others may be addressed even if it isn't specifically named here.

Consequences

Staff and game masters may take action in response to a breach of this Code, depending on its severity and context. This can include:

  • A direct conversation or informal warning
  • Removal from a specific session or event
  • Temporary suspension of access to Shared XP spaces
  • Permanent removal from the community

We aim to be fair and proportionate, but the safety of our community comes first.

In-person events

The same standards apply at any in-person Shared XP event, alongside any venue-specific rules in place at the time. Attendees are expected to look out for one another and to raise concerns with staff promptly.

A living document

This Code of Conduct may be updated as our community grows. Significant changes will be announced via our Discord server.
